A Tale of Two Cities

When it comes to theories about why Europe is currently suffering the sort of problems it is, the progressive left are still working from the outdated 70’s mantra that all of this is due to not very clever people getting upset about immigrants stealing jobs and looking for someone to blame.

This one dimensional, over simplified position illustrates how far they’ve had to developed their thinking since the 1970’s.

Contrast this position with the clarity and depth of understanding displayed by Douglas Murray, Peter Hitchens or Rex Murphy on the crisis in Europe and it is quite clear who has been doing some serious thinking on the subject.

For decades the left has controlled the narrative and shamed into silence or shouted down anyone who had legitimate concerns over mass Muslim immigration. They could simply post it in, over dinner parties and in bars, knowing that they would not be challenged or have to examine their porous position. Such was the power of the self-policing liberal tyranny, especially in Europe. No one dared say anything.

But in doing so they have slowly set the spring for a backlash that is only now just starting to gain momentum. This reality is, of course, unlikely to ever occur to them.  And as the situation becomes undeniably unsustainable for all but the most ideologically insane, what we are increasingly hearing and seeing is panic from those who have helped create the mess and feel that the tide is turning against them. You know something’s deeply awry when you see a piece by George Soros in The Guardian.

They have been willing helpers in the engineered destruction of European culture by our political & financial elite through a program of Coercive Engineered Migration. The only nations not drinking the Kool-Aid ironically are the former Soviet block countries, who were spared decades of societal erosion from a program of sustained cultural marxism. And that must be embarrassing.

The leaders of Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary are not xenophobic fascists for resisting the same fate for their nations as German, Belgium or France. This is not about jobs or scapegoating minorities in hard times. This is simply now about the survival of Western culture and putting an end to failed policies that are destroying otherwise stable societies.

Sex, Lies, and Media Coverage

Douglas Murray on the media’s reluctant coverage of the New Year’s Eve mass rapes in Europe, and the state of discussion of such things:

This is a shame, because some free thought and discussion about what is going on could have been useful at an earlier stage. Last year, when Angela Merkel flung open Germany’s borders anyone who said, ‘Are you sure you know what you’re doing?’ was shouted down with cries of ‘racist’. Then, after about a million more people had come into the country even Chancellor Merkel started to wonder who they all were and whether they had all the right Germanic ideas. One minister finally said that they weren’t keen on letting many more anti-Semites into Germany. And now in the wake of the New Year’s Eve attack some politicians are saying they don’t really want people who aren’t even up to speed with even last millennia’s views on women. Perhaps it is too late and German women will indeed have to follow the advice of the Mayor of Cologne and take more care when out on the streets (‘No skirts. No trousers. Have you considered this lovely burka madam?’) Or perhaps an intensive period of workshops with new arrivals will settle it all amicably and swiftly. I suppose we will just have to hope so. In the meantime it turns out that the German police have been caught mis-representing the facts about who was doing the New Year’s Eve raping., and so we are now in the far more dangerous place where lies become the preserve not only of the fourth estate, but of the state itself.

Also discussed: the cops being MIA during the attacks but very quick to come down on anyone opposing them, be it firing water cannons at protestors outraged by the rapes or the continued persecution of people like Tommy Robinson (ex-EDL, now Pegida UK):

I mention that case because it is a reminder that instinctive reaction to the Cologne case is symptomatic of a much wider problem. With Pegida protests in German today being fired on by police with water-cannons that problem of attacking the reaction rather than the problem (where were the water cannons on New Year’s Eve?) has rarely seemed starker.

What to name a feminist book club?

uglyfeministcomic

Apparently Harry Potter actress Emma Watson needs a little help coming up with lines that aren’t written for her, or at least with names for her new “feminist book club”, so she reached out on Twitter for suggestions, according to a new fluff piece on Breitbart.

We were going to suggest Tomes For Twats, but apparently her mind’s already made up as she went with the rather socialist-sounding “Our Shared Shelf.”

Broken clock Piers Morgan: right twice in one day

Larry King wannabe Piers Morgan has somehow managed to be right about not one but two things in a recent column for The Daily Mail referencing some dumb stunt that Ellen Degeneres pulled on some dumb awards show involving showing a shirtless pic of some dumb actor and comparing it to some cricket player flirting with a female reporter (who shot him down anyway) before comparing it to the backdrop of the New Year’s Eve rape mobs:

But true gender equality surely dictates that both sexes should be held to equal behavioural judgement?

…And on a wider point, it was fascinating and frankly disturbing to see ‘Gayle-gate’ attracting wider attention, comment and news coverage around the world than the appalling incident in Cologne, Germany where over 1000 men of Arab and North African origin sexually assaulted dozens of innocent women on New Year’s Eve.

Particularly as the female Mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, shockingly seemed to put the onus on women to stop these attacks happening again – suggesting a ‘code of conduct’ they should adopt including maintaining an arm’s length distance from strangers.

If a male mayor has said this, all hell would have broken loose, and he’d have probably, and rightly, lost his job.

Sexism, in all its myriad guises, is a bad thing – let’s all agree on that.

But so is hypocrisy.

Enjoy it while it lasts, it might be a long time before we agree with Morgan on anything ever again.

Occupy Movement Ready To Mobilize Over Bundy Ranch Stand Off

jewels-crusties-and-cat-1024x768

Originally from 2013, this just goes to show how little has changed:

Occupy forces that have been sat in barracks for over two years now woke up this morning to discover that they were once again being mobilized, but that this time they would find themselves fighting on the same side as the forces of corporate cronyism that they stood against in 2011.

In a bizarre twist of My enemy’s enemy is my friend, string-weaving street punks and shouty one-dimensional leftie students across the continent awoke this morning to be told by the liberal media that Cliven Bundy was a rich greedy landowner supported by domestic terrorists trying to take food stamps off millions of poor children, whom the federal government was duty bound to protect along with the interests of Nevadan Senator Harry Reid.

The stand off between Bundy, his supporters and the federal government over cattle grazing rights has proven politically divisive in North America, with many on the liberal left now realizing that they hate white farmers in rural America more than they hate corrupt bankers and their political errand boys in Washington. The logic seemingly being: that if you have food stamps, you don’t need farmers.

The speed and enthusiasm with which the liberal left has jumped aboard the totalitarian government regime train should alarm everyone. Various liberal news outlets continue to bay for blood and salivate on air over the prospect of a Waco style takedown of Bundy & his supporters, which according to former Texan Senator Ron Paul, could still be very much on the cards.

Whatever the eventual outcome of this drama, it should be abundantly clear to anyone and virtually impossible for the progressive left to argue that they want a gun ban for anything other than political & strategic reasons.

Those of us who entertained the idea that we were all on the same side have been given a wake up call; this crisis has served to illuminate that the progressive liberal left are the all-too-willing tools of government, and hungry for a bit of state murder.

For the time being just be glad that they can’t shoot, or even be trusted to maintain their weapon.

Brown Canadian Says What White Canadian Can Not

Ujjal Dosanjh gestures as he stands in the House of Commons during Question Period on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on April 20, 2010. Four former B.C. attorneys general, including Dosanjh, are calling for the legalization of marijuana, saying the current ban on pot is only fuelling gang violence and clogging the courts, but they're not getting any support from the province's current premier. Sadly, political correctness afflicts much of the world; in particular the Western world.

What started as a legitimate change to bring about equality and transformation of how we viewed, treated and spoke about each other has now ossified into a rarely breached wall of silence; a silence reinforced by the onset of the West’s indifference to its own — good, bad or ugly but — distinct societies, their values and norms; call it white man’s burden or guilt; a guilt for the sins of the past now manifesting itself in the white man’s fear.

Remember back when punk wasn’t just something you bought at the mall?

Jim Goad on the death of Lemmy Kilmister, and acceptable and unacceptable forms of rebellion at the start of punk and metal vs. now:

These days punk rock is almost entirely a tool of extreme leftist propagandists, while rappers are ironically in love with shameless capitalism as exemplified by Donald Trump. Heavy metal isn’t entirely in the thrall of leftist dogma like punk is, but it’s still subject to relentless calls to “diversify” its ranks. The simple economic truth is that you aren’t likely to get a record contract if you run around Sieg Heiling and flashing swastikas, even if no one has a problem with you singing about eating skulls and sacrificing virgins. Praising genuine current threats such as ISIS and Kim Jong-un won’t earn you nearly the same scorn that will befall you should you dare to make a non-condemnatory comment about a German dictator who’s been dead for seven decades.

I Know, You Just Want To Be a Good Person

andy

PC is about control, not etiquette. If PC truly was about kindness and respect, it wouldn’t need to be imposed on us. After all, we already have a mechanism for the social cohesion PC is said to represent: it’s called manners.

Political correctness is the conscious, designed manipulation of language intended to change the way people speak, write, think, feel, and act, in furtherance of an agenda.

PC is best understood as propaganda, which is how I suggest we approach it. But unlike propaganda, which historically has been used by governments to win favor for a particular campaign or effort, PC is all-encompassing. It seeks nothing less than to mould us into modern versions of Marx’s un-alienated society man, freed of all his bourgeois pretensions and humdrum social conventions.

Like all propaganda, PC fundamentally is a lie. It is about refusing to deal with the underlying nature of reality, in fact attempting to alter that reality by legislative and social fiat. A is no longer A.  Read More

Immigration Insurance

Steve Sailer tells of an intriguing approach to offsetting immigration risks: insurance.

Immigration insurance may sound like a wacky idea at the moment, but it actually could appeal to multiple politically powerful interest groups, such as insurance companies looking for a new market and trial lawyers looking for new reasons to sue insurance companies. Giving the backbone of Democratic donors—the trial lawyers—a financial incentive to dig up and publicize dirt on immigration would be political jujitsu of the highest order.

Sailer admits that only the legal immigrants would comply with such a policy, but then, the same is true about car insurance.

At present, forecasting that some applicants for immigration would be better than some other applicants is widely considered racist and un-American, a violation of the Zeroth Amendment inscribed on the Statue of Liberty. More sane countries, such as Canada and Australia, have complex points systems for evaluating applicants based on statistical models of how much good they are likely to do current citizens.

We do? Are you sure, Steve? Does the Canadian government actually pay any attention to the points, though?

Anyway, the bigger problem is how to implement such a notion without having your eardrums shattered from libtards screaming about it. But that’s the same with each and every notion about what to do about immigration crises, so no big whoop.
